Left Up to the Universe is an installation by Isabel Theselius which explores memory, ritual, and discovery. The space is transformed into a cabinet of curiosities including objects which are collected and created to investigate the natural and unnatural occurrences we encounter in the everyday. Theselius uses familiar imagery and objects in order to examine these unknown or unperceived encounters while keeping the notion of reality and fiction in suspension. Through this exploration of the intangible, our inability to foresee or control the future becomes evident. As the title implies, the practices we employ to foretell our future are a reflection of the reality that we are unable to fully control.
